QuestMX is composed of four integrated applications; QuestMX Digital Takeoff, QuestMX Estimator, QuestMX Earthwork and QuestMX Earthwork Digital Takeoff.

Each time you open QuestMX you are required to login with a username and password. This security feature allows system administrators to selectively grant or deny permission to key features such as entry, reports, setup or job posting. There are also security features associated with individual projects such as password protection and permissions.

All estimating permissions are disabled by default when a new user profile is created. Each user’s permissions must be configured individually.

AutoCAD, TDS data and image files can be imported into QuestMX Digital Takeoff to aid in creating accurate estimates. Supported image formats include PDF, JPEG, BMP, TIFF and more. These images can be used to quickly create takeoffs for any job. Also, once a set of plans has been digitized, QuestMX can compensate for possible inaccuracies in scale by simply applying a known distance for reference.

QuestMX Estimator has an Import/Export Tool that can import files with a .txt or .csv extension (ASCII files). This can be used to import catalog data such as individual cost items. Entire libraries/catalogs can’t be imported into QuestMX. If you have a custom catalog built in another program or even a previous version from Maxwell Systems, you will have to rebuild it in QuestMX.

3D visual assemblies allow users to actually see what a project will look like based on take-offs and estimate information. Visual assemblies are add-ons to the QuestMX package. These visualizations provide a unique perspective on estimates and can be expanded to show each individual component of an assembly.

Users can create and modify bid day estimates to experiment with different scenarios right up until the bid is due. Also, purchase orders and change orders are produced right from the estimate and past projects can be used as templates to quickly generate new bids for similar jobs.

Project scheduling, calendar management and a letters and contracts library are not yet available but may be available in the future.

QuestMX Earthwork™ lets you create estimates, purchase orders and change orders for earthwork jobs that involve cut and fill work, excavation and other jobs. Three dimensional views in Earthwork offer a realistic aerial view of existing and proposed elevations on a job site. Cross-section views are also available and allow users to view elevations between any two site points.

Specialized add-on applications offered by Maxwell Systems like Trenchwork, Roadwork and Cross Sections offer unique tools for specific construction industries.
